The American Society of Rio de Janeiro is dedicated to upholding American traditions of education, volunteerism, and purpose-driven community service. We harness the efforts of our volunteers and supporters to make a meaningful difference—especially in the lives of those who need it most.

Our primary focus is on supporting children and youth through impactful initiatives and outreach. We would love for you to join us in helping to improve lives and uplift our local community.
Purpose-Driven Service Projects (PDSP)
PDSP supports our selected organizations through multiple channels:

Financially – through sponsorships, donations, and fundraising efforts

Manually – through cleaning and facility improvement projects

Educationally – through tutoring and enrichment programs

The goal is that our community’s support will help these organizations provide a safe and nurturing environment for children at risk—creating a solid foundation for them to build brighter, more successful futures.
Events and social engagement offer these children unique and joyful experiences that enrich their lives and connect them with the wider community. These moments promote social development, confidence, and a sense of belonging.
Perhaps most importantly, these experiences bring happiness and hope. And for the volunteers involved, the rewards are often just as meaningful. The time shared with these incredible children leaves a lasting impact on everyone involved.
NextGen Volunteers
Want to help your children make a difference in Rio and better understand the needs of our community? NextGen Volunteers is the American Society of Rio de Janeiro’s youth volunteer program, open to kids and teens ages 7 to 18.
The program offers hands-on opportunities for our younger members to get involved in meaningful service projects across the city.
Past initiatives have included clearing land at a community garden, building a mobile library, and helping assemble care packages and organize donations for local causes.
