Membership / Annuity Refund Policy
The American Society of Rio de Janeiro understands that circumstances can change, and you may need to cancel your membership. That’s why we offer a fair and transparent refund policy.
If you choose to cancel your membership within the first 7 (seven) days of purchase, you are entitled to a full refund, with no fees or penalties.
After the 7-day period, if there is a force majeure reason—such as a serious illness or relocation to another city—you may request a proportional refund of your annual membership. For example, if you used one month of an annual membership, you will be eligible to receive a refund for the remaining 11 months.
To request a refund, simply contact our office and provide the necessary information to identify your purchase. We will process your request as quickly as possible, within a maximum of 30 days.
Please note: If you have already used membership benefits or participated in exclusive members-only events, those amounts cannot be refunded.

Event Ticket Refund Policy
Cancellation Before the Event
If a participant wishes to cancel their attendance before the event takes place, they must contact the American Society of Rio de Janeiro to request cancellation of the purchased ticket.
Refunds will be processed as follows:

Up to 3 days before the event: Full refund of the ticket amount.

Less than 3 days before the event: No refund will be issued.
Cancellation During the Event
If a participant decides to cancel during the event, no refund will be issued.
Changes to the Event
If the date, time, location, or program of the event is changed by the American Society of Rio de Janeiro, attendees will be informed in advance. Customers will have the option to:

Keep the ticket for the updated event; or
-
Request a full refund of the ticket amount.
Event Cancellation
If the event is cancelled by the American Society of Rio de Janeiro due to force majeure, the customer will be informed in advance and may choose one of the following:

Full refund of the ticket amount; or
-
Transfer of the ticket value to another future event organized by the Society, if available and chosen by the customer.
Refund Processing
All refunds will be issued using the same payment method used for the original ticket purchase. Processing times may vary depending on the payment method and the policies of the financial institutions involved.
